About Quartz Countertops

Black stone background with some white or light gray veins running throughout the stone

What Are Quartz Countertops?

A DURABLE STONE AS YOUR COUNTERTOP

Quartz slab countertops are engineered countertops made from ground quartz. Quartz is a common crystal found all over the world. It's not natural stone, unlike granite, quartz slabs are not cut, but manufactured. Manufacturer's use around 90% ground quartz, with resins and other materials that hold everything together. Once created, quartz slabs are one of the strongest, most durable countertop materials on the market.

Quartz is a non-porous material, which means that it's less likely to grow mold and bacteria. It has an extremely low liquid absorption rate, so it's hard to stain and easy to clean. Because quartz countertops are made from quartz crystals, it has a very high hardness, so it won't scratch like some other stone or porcelain surfaces. Quartz has a lower heat tolerance than natural stone, but at about 450°C (842°F), it will endure almost anything you're likely making in the kitchen. Quartz is also very impact resistant thanks to the resin adhesives used to manufacture the slabs.

With it's durability and strength, quartz slabs are a great countertop material for virtually any space.

WHAT TO KNOW

• Nonporous and virtually non-absorbent

• Has high stain and scratch resistance being about 7 on the Mohs Hardness Scale

• High impact resistant due to adhering resins used to manufacture the slabs

• Heat resistance of about 450°C (842°F)
